Lightner Museum Wedding in St. Augustine, Florida

Some weddings feel like a perfect blend of two places. For Sophie and Jack, that meant bringing their Colorado story to the Florida coast.

Although they live in Colorado now, they chose to have a Lightener museum wedding in St. Augustine for their celebration. Known as the oldest city in the United States, St. Augustine has a charm that is hard to describe until you experience it. Historic streets, Spanish architecture, palm trees, and coastal air all combine to make the town feel incredibly romantic.

Their venue, the iconic Lightner Museum, was the perfect backdrop for their destination wedding.

From wildflower inspired details to a trolley ride through town and a dance floor that stayed packed all night, Sophie and Jack created a wedding day that felt joyful, relaxed, and unforgettable.

Engagement Photos in Colorado Before the Destination Wedding

Before their wedding weekend in Florida, Sophie and Jack wanted to document their engagement in the place they now call home.

We photographed their engagement session in Colorado, surrounded by mountain landscapes that feel completely different from the historic coastal vibe of St. Augustine.

It was the perfect way to start their wedding story.

Engagement sessions give couples space to slow down, get comfortable in front of the camera, and spend time together without the structure of a wedding day timeline. By the time their wedding weekend arrived, everything felt natural and effortless.

A Wedding Weekend in Charming St. Augustine

Sophie and Jack designed their wedding as a full weekend experience for their guests.

The celebrations began with a rehearsal dinner at a rooftop bar overlooking the city where everyone gathered for drinks and appetizers while watching the sunset over St. Augustine.

Guests were welcomed with beach themed welcome bags filled with Florida inspired touches that instantly set the tone for the weekend.

It was relaxed, thoughtful, and very much in the spirit of a destination wedding.

Getting Ready and a Dance Party with the Bridesmaids

On the morning of the wedding, Sophie and her bridesmaids got ready at the Tower Suite just down the street from the Lightner Museum.

The room filled with music, laughter, and the kind of excitement that builds when everyone knows the day is finally here.

At one point the bridesmaids formed a circle around Sophie and started a spontaneous dance party. It was one of those moments that perfectly captures the energy of a wedding morning. Pure joy and zero stress.

Sophie wore a stunning gown featuring delicate floral patterns with a hint of light blue woven into the design. It complemented the wedding’s wildflower theme beautifully.

Her bridesmaids wore dusty blue dresses that paired perfectly with the color palette and carried one of the most unique floral details of the day. Instead of traditional bouquets, the bridesmaids carried wildflowers arranged in small woven baskets, giving the florals a whimsical, garden inspired feel.

A First Look in the Courtyard of the Lightner Museum

Before the ceremony, Sophie and Jack shared a first look in the courtyard of the Lightner Museum.

Surrounded by historic architecture and warm Florida sunlight, it felt like a quiet pause before the celebration began.

First looks often become one of the most emotional moments of the day. They allow couples to take everything in together before the ceremony and give them a chance to connect privately before being surrounded by guests.

For Sophie and Jack, it was the perfect start to the day.

A Classic Church Ceremony

Their ceremony took place at a nearby church in St. Augustine.

Wildflower arrangements lined the aisle, bringing the same natural color palette into the ceremony space. Soft blues, yellows, and seasonal blooms created a beautiful contrast against the architecture of the church.

After exchanging vows surrounded by family and friends, the newlyweds shared their first kiss to a standing ovation.

A Trolley Ride Through St. Augustine

One of the most fun moments of the day came right after the ceremony.

Guests were shuttled through the historic streets of St. Augustine on the town’s iconic trolley, traveling from the church back to the Lightner Museum for the reception.

What could have been a simple transition between locations turned into a moving celebration through the city. Guests laughed, waved to people along the streets, and enjoyed the ride together.

It added so much personality to the day.

A Reception Inside the Historic Pool Hall at the Lightner Museum

The reception space inside the Lightner Museum is unlike almost any wedding venue in Florida.

What was once an indoor swimming pool has been transformed into a breathtaking event space with multiple levels.

Sophie and Jack set up the reception in a creative way that made the space feel even more dynamic. Their head table was positioned on the bottom floor while guests were seated along the second floor balcony, giving everyone a view of the celebration below.

A live band kept the energy high throughout the evening and the dance floor stayed completely packed all night.

Instead of a traditional wedding cake, Sophie and Jack surprised guests with an ice cream bar featuring flambéed marshmallows.

It was playful, unexpected, and a huge hit.

A Bubble Exit to End the Night

To close out the night, Sophie and Jack made their exit surrounded by guests blowing bubbles as they walked through the courtyard.

Under the night sky and surrounded by friends and family, it was the perfect ending to a day that balanced elegance, celebration, and genuine fun.
