Rehearsal Dinner and Fourth of July Celebration
The weekend kicked off with a relaxed rehearsal dinner on the Fourth of July at Courtney and Nick’s Airbnb. Surrounded by family and friends, they enjoyed a barbecue with green chili burgers and hot dogs sizzling on the grill, creating a warm, casual atmosphere that set the tone for the festivities ahead. As the sun set over the mountains, the sky came alive with a spectacular drone and firework show. This stunning display added a magical touch to the evening and perfectly captured the excitement and joy of the weekend. It was a great start to a wedding weekend that would be filled with unforgettable moments.
The Beauty of Telluride and the San Sophia Overlook
The wedding day itself showcased the best of what a Telluride wedding has to offer. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Telluride, a town known for its stunning natural beauty and rich history, the ceremony took place at the San Sophia Overlook. Perched high above the town, this location offered sweeping views of the San Juan Mountains, making it an ideal spot for couples looking for a mountain wedding venue in Colorado. For Nick, this spot was especially meaningful, as Telluride had been a favorite family destination during his childhood. Choosing this location was a beautiful way to honor those cherished memories and create new ones with Courtney.
The ceremony space, designed by Kayla Corey from Best Day Ever Events, was a stunning mix of rustic elegance and vibrant wildflower arrangements that mirrored the natural surroundings. With wildflowers swaying gently in the breeze and the peaks of Lizard Head standing tall in the background, Courtney and Nick exchanged vows in a setting that was both intimate and majestic. Their vows were a beautiful mix of heartfelt promises and light-hearted moments, reflecting their deep connection, joy, and sense of adventure. Having their close friend Rachel officiate added a personal touch, making the moment even more special.
A Ceremony Full of Emotion and Tribute
Throughout the ceremony, there were moments that truly touched everyone’s hearts. Courtney’s vows were a moving reflection of her love for Nick, expressing how he had made her feel seen, heard, and loved in ways she never knew were possible. Nick’s vows, in turn, were filled with admiration for Courtney’s adventurous spirit and a promise to always grow and learn together.
A special tribute was made to their late dog, Huck, who was remembered in various ways throughout the weekend. From a small figurine placed beside their wedding cake to stories shared by loved ones, Huck’s memory was woven into the celebration, adding a poignant layer of meaning to the day.
A Joyous Reception at the Madeline Hotel
After the ceremony, the celebration continued at the Madeline Hotel, an Auberge Residence. The reception space was beautifully decorated with a greenery wall featuring a glowing neon sign that read “The Laws” and tables adorned with wildflower arrangements and colorful candles. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfectly reflecting Courtney and Nick’s style—a blend of rustic charm and modern elegance.
The reception was filled with laughter, tears, and heartfelt speeches that left no dry eyes in the room. Courtney’s dad, Pete, opened the evening with a touching prayer, setting the tone for a night of love, gratitude, and celebration. Friends and family shared stories of adventure and friendship, celebrating the many experiences that had brought everyone together. It was clear that this was more than just a wedding reception; it was a celebration of the deep love and community surrounding Courtney and Nick.
Dances Full of Emotion and Connection
The emotional depth of the evening continued with the dances. Courtney shared a special father-daughter dance with her dad, Pete, that was both joyful and moving. With smiles and laughter, they glided across the dance floor, their close bond evident to all who watched. Nick’s dance with his mother, Patti, was equally touching. As they danced, both were visibly emotional, sharing tears, smiles, and moments of quiet laughter. After their dance, Nick and Courtney’s dad shared a significant moment, a handshake that quickly turned into a warm embrace, symbolizing the unity between their two families.
A Night of Celebration and Adventure in Telluride
As the night went on, the celebration became even more spirited with a bar-hopping adventure through downtown Telluride. Courtney and Nick, along with their guests, were greeted with cheers and congratulations wherever they went, creating an electric atmosphere. With a live band playing and a disco ball spinning overhead, the night was filled with music, dancing, and joy.
The highlight of the evening was when Courtney’s friend Rachel, in a spontaneous and fun moment, cut Courtney’s dress to knee length, instantly turning it into a chic reception dress. Courtney embraced the transformation with her usual enthusiasm, setting the tone for a night of unbridled fun and celebration. The unique shot-ski guest book added another layer of excitement, with guests lining up to take shots and leave their mark on the ski. It was a perfect reflection of Courtney and Nick’s adventurous and fun-loving spirit.

Here’s what the couple had to say!
“Our wedding day wouldn’t have been the same without our incredible friends, Quinn and Jared. These two are not only gifted photographers and videographers but also some of the most generous and caring people we know.
When we were in the throes of planning and dealing with Huck’s cancer diagnosis, Quinn and Jared introduced us to our lifesaver wedding planner, Kayla. Without their help, our wedding might never have come together.
From the start of our wedding weekend, Quinn and Jared were there, capturing every precious moment. They didn’t need to, but because they’re amazing friends, they documented the whole weekend for free. They guided us through the day, ensuring we felt at ease, and their skill in capturing every detail and moment is truly remarkable.
Even with our last-minute ceremony location—a simple longitude and latitude point on the map at Lizard Head Pass—they handled it flawlessly. They came prepared with all the lenses and gear needed to capture nearly 12 hours of our wedding day.
Jared was especially amazing during the reception dinner, quickly recording all the impromptu speeches. His speed and attention to detail ensured that every heartfelt word was preserved.
Quinn and Jared didn’t just stop at documenting the day. Less than 48 hours later, they surprised us with sneak peeks of our wedding photos. We even got together for coffee to relive the moments they captured so beautifully. Their friendship means the world to us, and their work left us speechless.
In the midst of all this joy, we also had to face the heart-wrenching loss of our beloved dog, Huck. He was diagnosed with cancer shortly after our engagement and underwent emergency surgery. Though he recovered initially, the cancer returned fiercely just two weeks before our wedding, and we had to say goodbye. Losing Huck was devastating, but Quinn and Jared’s support during that time was invaluable.
Their talent, dedication, and friendship made our wedding weekend unforgettable. We are forever grateful for their support and for capturing the most important moments of our lives with such love and skill.”
